Colombe Family
This website is a genealogy database of documents, photos, and information about the Colombe family. The family descends from Jean Baptiste "John" Colombe (c.1825-1893) and Josette/Josephine Dorian (c.1840-1881). John was a French Canadian who came to the United States in 1847 where he married Josette about 1860. Josette was a Sicangu Lakota and a descendant of Pierre Dorian of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. For more about the Dorian family, see below. The family lived in Denver, Colorado during the 1860s where John was a town marshall. In 1868 they moved to Dakota Territory with Spotted Tail's band and settled on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. Many of their descendants still live there today.
